Policies
Yanbu University College (YUC) is part of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. As an academic institution, the academic year at YUC is composed of two semesters. Each semester has 15 weeks of regular classes and two weeks for final exams. Holidays are determined between the semesters by the concerned entities which follow a national calendar for all schools and universities in KSA. A summer semester of 4-6 weeks may also be offered. Faculty who wish to teach in the summer are paid extra time and given 3- week vacation before the start of the next semester.
The employment offer for the faculty and administrative staff of YUC includes the following:
Basic Salary:
An applicant will be receiving an excellent monthly tax free salary in (Saudi Riyals) depending largely on the qualification and the number of years of experience, plus a monthly transportation allowance.
Housing:
Every employee, single or with family, will be provided with a fully furnished housing unit. He/ She will be responsible for his/ her consumption bills (e.g. water, telephone, power, internet, etc.)
Vacation :
Faculty at YUC will enjoy an annual vacation of sixty days in addition to Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha holidays and one week mid -semester holiday. Administrative or other Technical staff have thirty six days paid vacation.
Working Hours :
The weekly working days are five (Sat. – Wed.)
· Instructor/teacher has to teach up to 20 contact hours a week including labs and attend office hours as well.
· Lecturer has to teach up to 18 contact hours a week including labs and attend office hours as well.
· Assistant Professor has to teach up to 16 contact hours a week including labs and attend office hours as well .
· Administrative staff has to work up to 40 working hours.
If the faculty has exceeded the limited number of teaching load, they will be compensated for the extra hours.
Air Tickets :
Annual round-trip air tickets will be provided once a year for the employee, his wife, and up to two children under the age of 18.
Health Care :
The employee and the members of his family will be provided with free health care at the Royal Commission health care facilities.
Children Education:
Two of the employee’s children, under the age of 18, will be provided with free education in the International school for non Arab nationals.
Free education in Government schools will be provided for all the children of Arab nationals.
Settling-in (Start-of Service) Gratuity:
Upon appointment the employee will be paid the following allowances:
A family-status employee shall receive half a month’s salary upon arrival on site.
A single- status employee shall receive half a month’s salary upon arrival on site.
Service Increment: when renewing the contract the instructor may get an annual increase in the monthly base salary based on his performance in the previous year of service. This service increment will start after completing the first two years of service
End-of-Service Gratuity:
The employee will be paid an amount equal to half a month’s salary for each of the first five years of employment and one month’s salary for each subsequent year.
New employee will sign two years contract initially. It is then renewable on yearly basis thereafter.
